12/2/2023 0 Comments Jack of all tribes androidI went into it not knowing much about it but seeing it was made by Big Huge, I was expecting something on the 'easy / light' side, the way Rise of Nations is kind of an RTS for people who aren't very good at RTS's, and I was pleasantly surprised at it being that and an overall good / fun western RPG.Įven then, it's not really possible to go JOAT with a rogue in WoW, since all their trees are still about damage. I think, unfortunately because of genre and proximity of release dates, that it was overly compared with Skyrim, and maybe due to marketing or something, quite a few people bought it expecting something along those lines. The gameplay, art, dialogue, plot, etc., are all pretty goofy and cartoony, and it's hilariously easy to powergame, which makes it a fun, light distraction of a game. To me, the way I play / enjoy it, it's a much longer game in the same vein as Fable: The Lost Chapters. Skyrim and Diablo 3, I'm looking at you.Īgree, it's a very fun game, but, I think it wasn't what many people wanted / expected it to be, hence the divisiveness it brings out in online discussions. Just too much heartbreak in the ARPG genre (my favorite genre) lately for me. I've just started Guild Wars 2 (only 3 hours in), and I hope I remain as excited about it as I am now after 30+ hours. Well, any fanboyism is certainly gone, because I would not recommend the game at all.even pirating it. My post in truegaming actually left a bad taste in some peoples' mouths for perceived fanboyism, which is unfortunate, but I really just wanted to share my excitement with others. But after about 30 hours, the game really failed for me. I actually made this post about it in /r/truegaming because I was so excited about it, and I wanted other Action RPGers to be excited with me. It turned into, probably, my biggest game disappointment of all time. This was magnified moreso if you used the advertised hybrids or Jack-of-all-trades. So, no matter what, you ended up putting skill points into active skills that you couldn't even use, just to give yourself enough points to use the skills that you actually wanted to use. Guilds will not let you in, you'll never be anywhere close to winning any 1v1 PVPs no matter how skilled you are, etc.Īnother one that I wanted to add, but thought of it too late.you can only have 4 active skills at once (I played with a gamepad on PC). When I say disadvantage, I meant that it's not viable whatsoever to do a "jack of all trades" character. Any online game, since some FPS games let you boost your stats/etc. I also play FFXI and there is the Red Mage class, but there's little PVP and it's not a good comparison (also, the saying is often "Jack of All Trades, Master of None").Īre there any games where being a Jack of All Trades (example being even in most stats) actually levels the playing field for you? I've found that in a lot of games if you even out your stats, you're simply at a disadvantage in PVP no matter how skilled you are. For example, I just had a discussion about Dark Souls PVP where you should not "scatter" your stats and should always instead focus on a couple specific stats to raise. This is mostly in regards to online games where you can pick your own stats/etc for your character and where the game has PVP. r/CoOpGaming - A community for co-op gaming r/xboxone - Xbox-specific subreddit for general Xbox news and discussion r/playstation, /r/PS4 & /r/PS5 - PlayStation-specific subreddits for general PlayStation news and discussion r/pcgaming - PC gaming-specific subreddit for general PC gaming news, discussion and gaming tech support r/nintendo - Nintendo-specific subreddit for general Nintendo news and discussion r/shouldibuythisgame - Find out what's worth getting. r/gamingsuggestions - Go here to help you find your next game to play r/gaming4gamers - Discussion, bar the Hivemind Top-level comments must be at least 100 characters in length.Accounts must be at least one month old.External Links must follow these guidelines No topics that belong in other subreddits This subreddit shouldn't be used for advice of any kind.
